Increase Metabolism for Gaining Muscle (part 2 of 2)

Increasing your metabolism is essential in your workout as this is the process that boosts and generates energy for the body to help in developing your muscles. As you develop a good diet, you will be able to tweak the maximum efficiency of your body in producing energy which is very much needed when you are working out. Even all your normal activities like walking, sleeping, breathing and plain sitting require energy, so imagine how much would be needed when working out strenuously?

For gaining muscle, you will indeed be working out strenuously. You will be doing lots of strength training and weight lifting. Heavy weights will greatly help you in developing muscles. This can get very tiring though, so you really have to be determined in keeping up with your program. A professional trainer will be able to provide you a specialized strength training that will be able to maximize your training time.

Your attitude towards developing yourself will also make a big impact. You must be persistent and patient. Muscles don’t grow overnight. In fact, you won’t really be able to notice them in the first few weeks. But don’t be discouraged, just stick with your program. The body and muscle pains you feel after working out is a clear sign that what you’re doing is working. Feel the burn.

So there it is, the basics in gaining muscle and losing weight. It’s not just about breaking a sweat, its all about laser targeting all the aspects involved. A good diet (proper eating habits), and a rigid strength training and workout regimen, will definitely set you on the road to losing weight, gaining muscle, and basically bring out a better looking and healthier you.

Increase Metabolism for Gaining Muscle (part 1 of 2)

A well balanced diet and the proper workout regimen always work hand in hand in gaining muscle. If you are going for a well sculpted body with fine cuts and muscle definition, then you need to lose all the unwanted body fats in your body. This doesn’t mean though that you have to starve yourself, on the contrary, you need to eat more, more of the types of food that can increase your metabolism.

Dieting is not just about eating small amount of food, it’s more about having the proper eating habits. Remember the food pyramid? It’s all about knowing what to eat more and what to eat less. Eat plenty of whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. Limit your intake of fatty and sugary foods. But in gaining muscle, you need to have the proper amount of calories which will help fuel muscle growth and development. So preparing a special diet is in order. Getting the services of a dietician or nutritionist can help you a lot.

At first you may think that you are not losing weight fast enough. But if your goal is gaining muscle, then losing weight is not as fast as it would be when working out for the purpose of losing weight alone. This is because in a lose weight and gain muscle program, your weight reduction in body fat will be appended by the weight gain of muscle growth. This is a good thing as your weight will not be based on how much body fat you have but by the muscles you have gained.

Birth Control Pills and Weight Loss (part 2 of 2)

Since the objective of taking birth control pills is to prevent pregnancy and not to gain or lose weight, one effective way of doing this is by taking pills in 20mcgm dosages. Some examples that have this are Alesse, Levlite, Loesterin-Fe and MIrcette. You should also ask your doctor for other recommendations before you buy it from the drug store.

But if you are gaining weight as a result of the pill, you should have yourself checked by the doctor for insulin resistance. Should tests confirm this, you should go on a low carbohydrate diet. Exercise will also help a lot so you are able to shed off some of those excess pounds.

According to one population survey, more than 18 million women use one out of 40 birth control pills that are available in the market. All of them are prescribed by a physician and so if one doesn’t work, there are 39 others that you can choose from.

Birth control pills are not the only ones that can cause weight gain. The use of injectibles also produces the same result. The only difference is that most women gain about 5 pounds or less using pills rather than 6 to 7 pounds using the injection.

So, if you are considering using birth control pills or any other method, do some research about the side- effects? Gaining or losing a few pounds should be the least of your worries because other things may  happen such as blood clots, heart disease, heart defects, a stroke and severe migraines to name a few.

You could end up in the hospital instead of looking much bigger than you were before. Sadly, this is the price you have to pay if you don’t want to raise a family or have kids anymore until a pharmaceutical company is able to make a more effective birth control pill or method.

Birth Control Pills and Weight Loss (part 1 of 2)

Birth control pills have been around for many years and their success just shows that it can prevent pregnancies. In fact, there are so many of them around that despite the side effects women are still willing to make that sacrifice.

Side effects associated with birth control pills include light bleeding in between periods, skipped periods, nausea, weight gain, bloating and an increased risk of vaginal infections. You will probably experience either one or two of those mentioned since each person is different. Most of the time, this problem can be stopped by changing to a different pill.

But can birth control pills make you lose weight? Most studies have shown that you will gain weight rather than lose a few pounds because the hormone estrogen causes fluid retention in the body. So you can just imagine what a 50 mcgm pill can do compared to that of a lower dosage.

This is even if one pill called Yasmin, developed by Berlex laboratories made some women lose 2 pounds but then gained it back a short while after. Should the company be successful in proving that it can cause weight loss, the US FDA or food and drug administration may approve this as a weight loss aid.

Other changes in birth control pills include the volume of hormones. This means that there are fewer women these days that suffer from the side effects associated with hormonal changes or imbalances.

How to Improve Your Golf Swing (part 2 of 2)

Aside from the physical aspect to improve your golf swing, attitude plays a significant factor as well. This will be useful before you make the putt and when the ball did not go where you wanted it to. You just have to tell yourself to do it again so you will eventually get it right.

There are also golf swing aids you can get for the hands and arms as well as markers which you can use to help you putt on a line. You can buy this from the sporting goods store but as for the marker, you can get this from the hardware store.

Practicing your golf swing does not end when you leave the golf course. In fact, you can also practice this at home by clearing a certain part of your home. If you want to practice your long game, try going to a driving range.

Improving your golf game is something that professionals strive to do even if they have won several tournaments in the past because this is the only way for them to be on top of their game. If you are just starting out, this just means that you still have a long way to go so you can be just as good as them.

Whenever possible, listen to what the professionals say during interviews or what sports commentators write about them because you can also earn a thing or two to improve your game. You don’t have to follow everything but if you have tried a few, you will realize which one of these really works.

Being a champion or a professional like one of them will not be easy and this will not happen overnight but with patience and perseverance, there is a chance that your golf swing will become better in the long run so you can be just as good as them. Something that we hope of becoming even if we are not competing in a tour just like the professionals.

How to Improve Your Golf Swing (part 1 of 2)

The only way to improve your golf swing is with drills. In fact, there are so many to choose from so you should use your time wisely when you are on the green.

To do that, don’t just hit the ball. Assess your speed and distance control because these are factors that will affect where the ball will go.

Instead of just hitting the ball towards a hole, try working with ball markers because this will help you focus more on the stroke and not just sinking the ball. Since your ball will not always land in the same place, it is best to try putting at various distances.

That is for the short game but for the long game you have to hit the ball from one side of the green to the other. Again, watch your stroke because how well you swing will determine where the ball will land. When you walk over to where the ball landed, work again on your short game this time towards the hole and not a ball marker.

The last part of practice should always be closer to the hole. As much as possible, work on a flat surface and if you are able to sink 5 or 6 of these in a row, you can call it a day.

Make Your Own Halloween Mummy (part 2 of 2)

Another way of making a mummy will require adult size clothes for a large mummy and child size clothes for a small one. When you have it, lay these on the floor and start stuffing it using newspaper. If you notice, the end result will make your mummy look like a scarecrow.

For the hands of the mummy, get a pair of gloves then attach this to the arm then wrap this up using toilet paper or gauze. If you can spare an old white bed sheet which you can cut into strips, even better.

As for the head, try inflating a balloon or a gallon sized milk jug then put this near the collar of the shirt. Continue wrapping until you are also able to cover the mummy’s face. If you want to put some eyes, use black construction paper then glue this on the face.

While most mummies lie still, you can make your mummy different by letting it sit upright on a chair. One suggestion will be put the chair beside the table where the candies are.

Your life sized mummy will look great wherever you decide to put it. If the tissue, gauze or strips should come off just patch it up as fast as you can.

Although most mummies are color white, you can give it an aged appearance by using some spray paint. The two ideal colors to use for this are translucent beige and brown which you can easily buy from the craft store.

When Halloween is all over, take one last look at the mummy and then take it apart. Some of the stuff you use can be recycled for next year while the rest has to be thrown in the trash.

Now that you know how to make a life sized mummy, you can also use the toilet paper and gauze to create your own Halloween costume. If the two are identical, some people will think that they are talking to you when actually they are talking to a dummy.

Make Your Own Halloween Mummy (part 1 of 2)

Hanging fake spider webs and creating your own lanterns is one way to decorate your house during Halloween. If you want to make something bigger or more life like, why not add a mummy?

To make one, you don’t have to buy a mannequin or an inflatable. You will need though a lot of newspaper since this will help make up the entire body.

When all the parts are ready, hold everything together using some tape then begin wrapping the mummy using bandages. The best ones to use are those used in the hospital. Since this is too expensive, you will have to substitute this with toilet paper instead. It is best to use the plain kind since people will probably laugh if they noticed that it has a flowery design.

Now that your mummy is ready, put this where there is a lot of traffic like beside the front door to your house or in the dining room.

If you want to scare people, put this in places where they don’t expect like the bathtub or the closet. If people ask where the toilet is, just give them the directions. The same goes if people come in and want to hang their coat then just wait until you hear a loud scream.

Common Misconceptions on Chiropractic Care (part 2 of 2)

Myth #3: It Hurts!

Chiropractors who perform adjustments on patient have undergone years of training and clinical experience. Therefore, there is no need to fear any form of pain that you can experience during adjustment. In rare cases, a certain amount of discomfort might happen but it is hardly substantial enough to result into any feeling of pain. Since the treatment is manually applied, there are several factors that could potentially alter the sensations experienced along with the treatment procedure. If you are going to experience any sensation at all, it ranges from fatigue, headache, or local discomfort, but nothing life-threatening.

Myth #4: It Has Serious Side Effects

Hence, chiropractic has been dubbed as a “miracle cure” since anyone who has undergone it are miraculously cured of all maladies.

What anyone needs to know about chiropractic care is that it is a therapy that is focused on your body's muscoskeletal system. Therefore, it only addresses problems that are associated with those parts of your body to improve functions. If not, then health experts suggest to avoid undergoing chiropractic care. After all, the idea behind chiropractic care is to restore the body's natural ability to heal and retain normal function.

Myth #2: Chiropractic Care is Dangerous!

This is one of the most widespread form of chiropractic care misconception. Many fear to undergo it because they believe it can damage the body and expose them to more serious risks or illness. Worse thing is, they think that chiropractors are not licensed doctors.

First and foremost, chiropractic is a professional healthcare field and chiropractic doctors (or chiropractors) are also considered medical professionals. There are degrees offered for chiropractic, which is an alternative medicine recognized in the medical field. It employs adjustment procedures that help restore mobility or function on certain areas of the body such as the backbone, spine, neck, among others.
